Love

Hey all!

So, I decided to write a little post about love. I've had a few people ask me "have you ever been in love?" And "what does being in love look like?" And on and on.

Now, I'm going to answer the question I've been asked so many times:

Have I ever been in love?
I thought I was once. But the love that I thought was there was mistaken for infatuation. So to truly answer the question it would be a solid no. No I have not been in love.

That word "love" gets thrown around so much lately. People almost always tend to say:

"I loved that movie",
"I loved that book" or
"I love this food"

The list could go on and on. That word is thrown around so much that I find people have lost touch of it's true meaning.

People think love is just an emotion, which it is not. It tells us in the bible:

"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." - 1 John 4:8

God is love. He is the one who's love flows through us.

Love isn't a emotion, it's an action. We are to act in love. Everything we do for others should be out of love. Not for our own selfish reasons.

It says in 1 John 4:16:

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them."

We are to live in love because God IS love. He has the enernal love. We are to love because he loved us first. We are to do all of our actions out of love.

I want to challenge you, to see if your doing all of your actions out of love, or if they are for your own self. If some are for your own self, take time and re-evaluate the situate and ask God to help you do this with his love.

So to finish, love isn't a emotion. It's an action. They way we are to do things is out of love and compassion.

And when you find that one person you want to spend the rest of your life with ( if you already have that's awesome!) try not just telling them that you love them. Act upon those words. Do things that shows them that you love them.

Remember, the one person who will always love you and who proved it by sending his son to die for OUR sins is God. Keep it always in your heart that he will love you eternally.
